Now, let me dive into some exciting updates! The end of the school year was a whirlwind, moving faster than I would have liked. But I’m thrilled to share that my amazing group of eight 5th graders has wrapped up their year with me. They were such a delightful mix of silliness and talent, and I’m incredibly proud of all their hard work. To celebrate their journey, we took a field trip to HopeTown, a charming Cay off Abaco. The day was filled with swimming, games, delicious food, ice cream, and countless happy memories. While I’m sad to see these eight amigos move on, I’m honored to have been part of their 5th-grade adventure and to have shared in their ups and downs.
In June, God really moved in a big way by helping Abaco Island with a significant book donation. Thanks to last year’s school drive on Amazon and a generous gift of 13,228 books from Ferndale School District, we made a real impact on the book shortage here. These books went to Agape Christian School and because of the surplus of books we were also able to share them with other local schools. The donated resource books will be invaluable for reading support and small group activities. Lisa Burgs from Many Hands organization that we partner with in Abaco led a fantastic training for teachers on how to use these books effectively to three different schools, and her organization is even helping Agape start a library! Praise God and a heartfelt thank you to Many Hands and Lisa Burgs for making this possible.
On a personal note, some of you might know I’ve been dealing with back issues. While I’m not fully recovered yet, I’m on the mend. Your prayers and support mean the world to me. Please pray that I find good doctors when I return to the Bahamas in August to continue my recovery.
This July has been a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with people and express my gratitude for your ongoing support. If I didn’t get a chance to see you this summer, please know I’d love to catch up—whether through a call or when I’m back in town. I always enjoy hearing from you and learning about what’s going on in your lives.
A special thank you goes out to St. Paul’s Presbyterian, Emmanuel Baptist, Pathway, EdgeWood, and Chippewa United Methodist Church for your steadfast support. . I’m especially grateful to St. Paul’s Presbyterian and Emmanuel women's groups for their incredible effort in raising funds to provide Agape Christian School with new Bibles for grades 1 through 12. These bibles were a huge need for the school’s Bible program. We are now able to provide students of all grade levels a Bible to use in school that is on their appropriate grade level and all have the same translation.
Chippewa United Methodist Church also deserves a big thank you for their VBS fundraiser, which helped us purchase much-needed science supplies for Agape. This was a huge answer to prayer and a tremendous blessing. Praise be to God!!!
On the support front, I’m almost fully funded, with just $300 a month remaining. If you or anyone you know has a heart for supporting missions, any contribution would be greatly appreciated. Your support—whether financial, prayerful, or both—means more to me than words can express. My gratitude runs deep. 🩷
Now for a final, exciting update 😉. It’s been a while since I’ve shared my personal journey in these newsletters, so here it goes….Abaco for the past two years has encouraged me to grow up bountifully and brought much needed lessons into my life. It will forever leave a permanent mark on my heart. What a blessing to have worked alongside such experienced ministry companies Carrie and Barrett. Can’t thank them enough for taking me on after college and helping me through adulting (God bless them), but also learn what it means to be a leader, discipler, missionary, and a better daughter of the kingdom. What a wonderful training ground Abaco has been. At this point I know you are probably thinking I’m saying I will be returning to the states, but I’m not, so keep hanging on! After December this past year I started to feel God tugging on my heart and letting me know my time in Abaco is starting to come to its end and He had another place He wanted me to go. With prayer, discussions, and time God has made the path clear to move to Nassau, the Capital of the Bahamas. While it’s not a giant leap, I’d like to call it one big new step on this missionary path God has employed upon my life. So this August 11th I will be leaving the states and heading to Nassua to start a new chapter of mission work with Caribbean Youth Network!
I will still be with Caribbean Youth Network, so please know I am not changing mission organizations. I plan to stay with this one for a few more years and renew my contract in the near future! I will be working with Dan and Kelly Weightman along with Bob and Donna Mastin in Nassau with my new school of employment Windsor Elementary School. Windsor is a private school on the west side of the island that serves a variety of students from different backgrounds (Kelly Weightman has also been able to start a BYN club for lower elementary students to attend, which I am excited to be a part). While working there I will be a full time teacher assistant at the elementary school helping in the lower grades, and will be living in the boarding lodge full time with boarding students ages 14-18. I am thrilled about this opportunity to learn from such experienced teachers and live/do life with the highschool students when I’m not teaching. Don’t worry I will be sure to fit in personal me time 😄. When I’m not working with students at Windsor I will still be doing the same duties I did with Caribbean Youth Network in Abaco, just now in Nassau. I will be a leader at G2 once a week for highschool students that come from all over the island along with; one to ones, planning events, bible studies, and having group get togethers with high school girls. Sounds pretty busy right, we’ll I’m beyond excited for all of these new changes and challenges to come. Still pray fervently for me though with all of these new responsibilities and duties. Pray I lead well, learn a lot, and shine Christ through all I do!
One big blessing of moving to Nassau is having more peers my own age, especially some sisters in Christ. So excited to have some fellowship with peers my own age and work together with them in the Bahamas Youth Network! I love the friendships and fellowship I’ve had with people of various ages. There is something special about the struggle and journey we go through in our twenties and I’m very excited to have others on that same path with me to abide with.
Thank you for being such a vital part of this journey. Your support and prayers are a source of strength and encouragement.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Emma Boyer
