Hello From Nassau

Hello, friends!

I hope this newsletter finds you well! I am now in full swing into the third year of my internship with Caribbean Youth Network and I’m excited to share some updates from my new life in Nassau, Bahamas, where things are going wonderfully.

This year has so many changes. I recently started a new role as an Assistant Teacher at Windsor Lower School, and it’s been an enriching experience working with young minds. I am living full-time with high school students at Windsor Upper High School in their Albany boarding house. This has offered a unique opportunity to connect with some of the high school students and to be part of their daily lives. Additionally, during my free time, I’m ministering to students on the East Side of the island in the evenings on Thursdays. On every other Friday, I am helping with the Bahamas Youth Network high school leadership students.

Juggling these three roles has its ups and downs, but it’s a fantastic way to dive deep into the community and truly get to know the vibrant people of Nassau.

In my downtime, I’ve been enjoying the company of my fellow coworkers. Whether we’re grabbing a bite to eat or playing a game of paddle, it’s been great to build friendships and learn about other people’s worldviews. Many of you know how much I love horses. So it’s been a blessing to have been able to start to volunteer at a local horse barn, which has been a refreshing and fulfilling experience. Plus, I’ve joined a women’s adult soccer league on Saturdays to stay active and meet more people.

I recently found a new church community at NPCC, which has been a wonderful addition to my experience and adds much needed Christian community. It’s a great place to connect with others who share similar values and interests.

That’s a pretty quick summary of my new life routine here and slowing getting to know the lay of the land. I’ve been focusing my energy on getting to know people and making deep connections.

Some things that would be good to know, with this new season of my life, is that I will not be able to share pictures of the things I do with students at the school or lodge. They are secular environments, and I am not legally allowed to share students information online for protection purposes. I will however be able to share all I do with the BYN students still and pictures of those activities. Excited for you all to be a part of the journey this year and see the way the Lord is moving in my life and the students' lives.

I would now like to introduce the new team I will be working with while in Nassau Bahamas.

Nica stands out as a beacon of friendship and laughter. Her vibrant spirit and spectacular sense of humor uplift everyone around her. As a leader of the high school youth group on Thursday nights, she skillfully fosters a sense of community and belonging among the youth. Additionally, at the University of the Bahamas, Nica's dedication shines through her leadership in Bible studies and fellowship groups, nurturing the next generation of Bahamian leaders.

De is truly a ray of sunshine, illuminating the lives of those she encounters. Currently pursuing her master’s degree online, she embodies resilience and dedication as she leads the Thursday night youth group. Her ability to inspire and uplift others through her words and actions creates a warm and welcoming environment for all.

Victor, hailing from Abaco, brings a wealth of experience and a heartfelt commitment to the Nassau community. His years of teaching alongside his wife have equipped him with invaluable insights into nurturing youth. As a head leader for the BYN on Thursday nights, his passion for serving the Lord and his community shines brightly, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he meets.

Bob and Donna, missionaries with the Caribbean Youth Network, have been a tremendous force for Christ-like love in the Bahamas for six years. Their dedication to mentoring young adults, leading mission groups, and engaging with college students is nothing short of inspiring. They exemplify selfless service, guiding and empowering the next generation to make a positive impact in their communities.

Walter, the new Director of the Bahamas Youth Network, has quickly made a significant impression with his incredible spirit and dedication to serving the Lord. Over the past few months, I’ve had the privilege of getting to know him, and it’s clear that he leads our team with a vision that truly resonates in our outreach efforts across the island. His passion for connecting with others and finding ways to share the gospel to others.

Dan and Kelly, the founders of the Caribbean Youth Network, are extraordinary individuals whose commitment to the mission of sharing the gospel with others. It has been an honor to collaborate with them for the past two years and four months. Their leadership and unwavering support guide us as we strive to reach and uplift those in our communities. Together, they create an environment that encourages growth, service, and connection, making a lasting impact sharing their love of the Lord to everyone.

Together, this incredible team is not just building a youth group and ways to reach youth on the island; they are fostering a movement of faith, hope, and love throughout the Bahamas to spread the word of God. Their collective efforts are a testament to the power of community and the trans-formative impact of leadership grounded in Christian faith.

Prayer Request

  • Please join me in prayer for the G2 (Growth Group) this Thursday night and for the high school girls I will be working with. I ask for deep connections to form and for opportunities to share God’s love in their lives.

  • Additionally, pray for our leadership group with the juniors at the local high school on Friday. I seek guidance in my own leadership skills, that I may effectively mentor and inspire these young minds to become disciples among their peers.

  • I also request prayer for my personal walk with God. May I continue to grow closer to Him each day, discerning and following the path He has laid out for my life.

  • Please pray for me to have a strong and disciplined start to my Grad school program that starts this January! Getting my Master in Education Administration!!!

  • For any additional prayer requests, please refer to my email. Thank you for your support!
